FPI for Automotive
FPI lines are standard NDT solution for surface defect detection in automotive industry. Mainly they are used for testing of non-ferromagnetic materials as aluminum, magnesium, other non-ferromagnetic metals and their alloys. Typical users of FPI lines in automotive are casting, forging or machining companies whose scope of work defined by end customer includes FPI testing. Typical automotive components tested by FPI lines are different suspension parts, wheels, engine parts, steering parts, battery pack covers and similar. Typical for automotive FPI lines is requirement for higher grade of automation resulting mostly in automatic or semi-automatic FPI lines.
LPC–D1
LPC-D1 is the FPI line with highest per hour capacity of testing. Based on actual setup and type of test parts its capacity exceeds 900 suspension parts / hour. The line is equipped with automatic endless continuous chain conveyor, automatic process cabins, automated waste water treatment. It is designed as 2-floor line with continuous conveyor. Ground floor contains human operations (loading/unloading, inspection, hardness testing) and automatic penetrant application, automatic operations (washing, drying, automatic developer application) are situated on upper floor.
ADR (automated defect recognition) or automated loading can be offered possible as an option.
Key features of LPC-D1:
- Small footprint due to the 2-floor concept
- Very high testing capacity
- Low penetrant consumption due to electrostatic application
- Reliable chain conveyor part movement
- Output from line on belt conveyor for better connectivity to following processes.
LPC-D1 fulfills requirements of ASTM and ISO EN norms for FPI testing and was approved for testing parts for Audi, Porsche, BMW and other car manufacturers.
